"Ask for what you want and be prepared to get it." -Maya Angelou.

As a woman studying business and being in a male-dominated field, it's crucial to be a go-getter. Especially being a young professional and entering a field where most likely white, middle-aged men are in charge, it's "normal" to feel like you have to prove yourself more. Unfortunately, women have to deal with being undermined in the workplace and continuously having to prove they belong.

I attended a women's conference today, and that was a reoccurring topic throughout the program. As well as being labeled differently as men when women show they are assertive and in charge. Thankfully, we are in the times of more women entering and disrupting the business world in many industries. As I pursue my career, I realize I need to prepare to be in the position I aspire to be mentally and be ready to work as hard as everyone else.

I think many people wish for a better life or aspire to be in significant positions but do not prepare themselves for when it comes true. Attending college takes time and effort, and it doesn't stop after graduation. If anything, I think as a businesswoman, my hard work and dedication are just beginning.

This week I am collaborating with another woman pursuing her business degree in marketing and sports management. Maya and I also work together for the events team at our university. Check out her socials (Instagram and website) where she highlights her interest in sports .
